Heinrich To Present Medals To Vietnam War Veteran In Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - On Friday, December 4, at 3:15 p.m., U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will present nine medals to a U.S. Army veteran, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, and Air Medal. Senator Heinrich's office assisted this veteran, who served 10 years in the Army, obtain medals he earned, but never received, for his service in the Vietnam War. The medal presentation and tribute to the veteran's service will take place inside the Roberts Room in Scholes Hall at the University of New Mexico and will include a Presentation of the Colors.

Prior to the medal presentation, Senator Heinrich will meet with Health Leadership High School students in Albuquerque who are studying for careers in the health care field. The school focuses on providing students with hands-on work experience through internships and career exploration opportunities. Senator Heinrich will tour the campus and host a discussion with students about their current projects, experience with the school, and plans to advance their education and careers. Health Leadership High School opened in August 2013 in partnership with First Choice Healthcare, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, and the University of New Mexico Hospital.
