WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) issued the following statement today on the passing of former Congressman Ike Skelton of Missouri:
"Ike Skelton was a devoted public servant, an unparalleled advocate for our men and women in uniform, and someone I always looked up to when I was a young man growing up in his district. For more than three decades, Mr. Skelton served the people of Missouri well and was an effective and principled leader on the Armed Services Committee. Serving with him on that Committee was one of my life's greatest honors. He leaves the kind of legacy that we would all do well to examine and emulate. I will miss him and my thoughts and prayers are with his family."
