WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M), a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, released the following statement after voting to confirm Dr. Ernest Moniz as Secretary of Energy:
"Dr. Ernest Moniz's decades of experience and expertise in energy technology and policy have prepared him well to lead the Department of Energy. I am particularly pleased with his commitment to strengthen the partnerships between New Mexico's Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories and the private sector. Transferring technologies developed at the labs could help foster new government-industry partnerships, spur innovation, and boost job creation. I look forward to working with Dr. Moniz as Secretary of Energy as we work to address important issues facing our nation including tackling climate change and building a clean energy future."
