WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) today released the following statement on President Obama's Fiscal Year 2015 budget proposal:
“President Obama’s budget includes smart invests aimed at continuing to grow our economy and widening the door of opportunity for every family to work their way into the middle class.
“I’m pleased the Administration is committed to solid funding levels for our national laboratories to carry out their critical missions. Sandia and Los Alamos National Labs employ some of the best and brightest minds in the country and are indispensable to our national security.
“New Mexico also stands a lot to gain from the provisions in the budget to increase access to our public lands, including fully funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Conservation not only strengthens our state’s rich outdoor traditions, it also helps drive our thriving outdoor recreation economy.
“I would have liked to have seen more investment in New Mexico's military installations, which I will continue to advocate for.
"I will work with my colleagues and the Administration to ensure we build a fiscally sound foundation so that New Mexico can thrive.”
