WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on the nomination of New Mexican Michael Connor to serve as Deputy Secretary of the Interior.
"Mike Connor is a tremendous pick for this post. He is a thoughtful and smart public servant with decades of experience working on issues of particular importance to New Mexico, including land and water conservation, and finding solutions to addressing climate change. Through collaboration and pragmatism, Mike has also proven throughout his career to be an effective leader and advocate for Indian Country. I'm confident that Mike will make New Mexico and our nation proud. I look forward to working with him as our next Deputy Secretary of Interior."
Since 2009, Connor has served as Commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
