VIDEO: Heinrich Secures Commitment From Interior Department To Keep Bureau of Indian Affairs Navajo Regional Office Open

WASHINGTON, D.C. - During an Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing today to conduct oversight of the Trump Administration’s plan to dramatically reorganize the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) secured a commitment to keep the Navajo Regional Office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) open in Gallup, N.M.

Senator Heinrich also pressed for the Department of the Interior to conduct extensive, meaningful government-to-government consultation with tribes impacted by the reorganization.
