WASHINGTON, D.C. – During a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing today on the U.S. Department of Energy’s budget and priorities, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) secured a commitment from Secretary Rick Perry to maintain Los Alamos National Lab’s (LANL) plutonium mission into the future.

During the hearing today, Senator Heinrich also questioned Secretary Perry on how intermittent renewable energy can be integrated into the electric power grid without disrupting reliability, highlighting Texas as the case study for success in its ability to handle high amounts of wind energy.
