WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Thursday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m., U.S. Sens. Tom Udall (D-N.M.), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), and United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Javier Palomarez will hold a bipartisan press conference on the U.S. Capitol grounds to address the delay in confirming Roberta Jacobson to be U.S. Ambassador to Mexico.
Jacobson, currently serving as U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, was nominated last July and received approval by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in November. Since then, there has been an indefinite delay in confirming Jacobson for this post. Without and ambassador in place, the indispensable relationship we share with our southern neighbors may stall at a time when our mutual economic, security, and cultural interests requires our bond to be stronger than ever.
