WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), and U.S. Representatives Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) and Teresa Leger Fernández (D-N.M.) are highlighting billions of dollars in historic infrastructure investments on the first anniversary of the landmark Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act becoming law.
“One year ago today, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act championed by Democrats was signed into law. We delivered billions in historic investments for New Mexico to rebuild and strengthen our roads and bridges, water and energy infrastructure, high-speed internet delivery, and so much more,” said Heinrich. “These investments mean good-paying jobs and ensure that New Mexico’s infrastructure meets 21st century needs. Now, matched with the successes of the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS and Science Act, and yearly Appropriations, Democrats are truly making smart, long-term investments that will increase opportunities for every New Mexican and change the very course of our nation’s future.”
“Here in New Mexico where our scientific laboratory research fuels our power grids, our crop fields feed our nation, and our roads connect millions of Americans from the East to the West, updated infrastructure is absolutely essential,” said Luján. “The extraordinary investment the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law made one year ago today has set off a domino effect of much needed improvements to our nation’s infrastructure and created countless good-paying jobs. Today will be the first of many anniversaries to come in celebrating this lasting and historic once-in-a-generation investment.”
“Today, I am proud to celebrate one year of critical investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which has already touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of New Mexicans,” said Stansbury. “Through billions of dollars of funding for our roads, broadband, water, climate resilience, and wildfire response, and more, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is already creating good-paying union jobs across our state. I look forward to continuing our work in the years to come to maximize the full potential of this funding to build climate resilience and an economy that works for all New Mexicans.”
“One year ago, we made the biggest investment in our infrastructure in a generation. The bipartisan infrastructure law has already gone to work in New Mexico, and these projects will directly benefit our comunidades,” said Leger Fernández. “High speed broadband for our rural vecinos, investments that protect our precious water resources, and expansion of renewable energy will both lift our economy and put New Mexico on track to success.”
The Infrastructure Law is set to invest $3.7 billion in formula funding alone for a range of vital projects in New Mexico. Some of the projects and priorities receiving federal funding from the Infrastructure Law include:
