WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 5, 2019) – In a key Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) questioned Secretary of Defense for Policy John C. Rood on the Trump administration’s reckless decision to withdraw U.S. forces from northern Syria. The removal of U.S. forces from the region in early October extinguished trust and partnerships with Kurdish allies and expelled countless, innocent civilians from their homes.
