Heinrich Votes For Senate Passage Of Bipartisan U.S. Innovation And Competition Act

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) issued the following statement after voting to pass the bipartisan U.S. Innovation and Competition Act to jumpstart American competitiveness and make one of the most significant government investments in American innovation and manufacturing in generations.

The legislation allows the United States to out-compete countries like China in critical technologies like semiconductors, create good-paying American jobs, and help improve economic and national security.

Innovation is what America does best. I’m proud to support this bipartisan legislation to strengthen the federal government’s commitment to science and technology. With countries like China doing everything in their power to increase their industrial footing on the world stage, it is critical for the United States to maintain its moral and ethical leadership on scientific research and technological capabilities,” said Heinrich. “I will continue fighting for smart and forward-looking investments that create opportunities for New Mexico’s world-class research universities, national labs, and high-tech and advanced manufacturing industries that power our economy and support good-paying and growing career fields in our state.”
