Heinrich To Visit New Mexico’s First Net-Zero Energy Multi-Family Project As Senate Readies Historic Climate Action

Senator Heinrich will help kick-off the “Electrify New Mexico” campaign and discuss historic climate legislation to fight inflation, lower energy costs, invest in clean energy, and reduce carbon emissions

SANTA FE, N.M. – On Friday, July 29, at 11:15 a.m. MT, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Co-Chair of the Electrification Caucus, will tour Siler Yards: Arts+Creativity Center in Santa Fe to highlight how the electrification of homes and buildings can help families and small businesses save money, improve health outcomes, and serve as a critical investment in the fight to address climate change.

The recently announced Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 includes language that mirrors Senator Heinrich’s Zero-Emission Homes Act to help families with the upfront costs of installing clean and efficient electric home appliances like air-source heat pumps.

The event will also feature the kickoff of the Electrify New Mexico Campaign is a collaboration between Partnership for Responsible Business, Santa Fe Green Chamber of Commerce and Las Cruces Green Chamber of Commerce designed to explore the realities of electrification through the stories of New Mexico business leaders.
