Heinrich To Participate In Groundbreaking Of NNSA Albuquerque Complex Project
Sen. Heinrich recently secured $98 million in the 2018 spending bill to start construction of the new building
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On Monday, July 2 at 9:30 a.m., U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Albuquerque Complex Project in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The project will provide a modern, safe, and secure workspace for approximately 1,200 employees who support NNSA’s vital national security missions.
As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Heinrich has long advocated for the new facility and recently secured $98 million in the 2018 spending billto start construction of the new office building for NNSA’s Albuquerque Complex to replace the existing outdated and inadequate 50-year old facility. Construction is estimated to cost around $174 million and take about four years to complete.
