WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will participate in a Congressional Joint Economic Committee hearing entitled "Immigration and its Contributions to our Economic Strength" on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. ET. Members of the committee will question and receive testimony from witnesses Grover Norquist, President, Americans for Tax Reform; and Dr. Adriana Kugler, Professor, Georgetown Public Policy Institute, Georgetown University. Sen. Heinrich is a strong advocate for accountable immigration reform and a lead proponent of the DREAM Act. Following the introduction of the bipartisan immigration bill in the U.S. Senate last month, Sen. Heinrich released a video statement with his reaction. He said, "Successful reform should include a visa system that meets the needs of our economy, a plan that ensures security along our borders, and a tough but fair path to earned citizenship for the estimated 11 million undocumented individuals in our country."
