ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will participate in the grand opening of the University of New Mexico Lobo Rainforest Building, the first building of the Innovate ABQ site.
Innovate ABQ is a collaborative initiative that brings together the research powers of the University of New Mexico and New Mexico's government, education, and business communities. The innovation center will be a catalyst for new companies, grow existing ones, and attract more out-of-state business to the state.
Senator Heinrich helped secure a $1.5 million federal grant to develop the new high-tech business district in downtown Albuquerque and welcomed the National Science Foundation designation of the Lobo Rainforest as an Innovation Corps site, which will bring additional federal funding and technical support from leading national experts in scaling up technologies and materials developed in the lab to viability in the market.
