Heinrich To Join Community In Honoring Legacy Of Martin Luther King, Jr., Visit Islamic Center Of New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will travel to Albuquerque and Rio Rancho on Monday, January 18, 2016, to honor the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and visit the Islamic Center of New Mexico.     

In the morning, Senator Heinrich will visit the Islamic Center of New Mexico and participate in a roundtable discussion with Imam Shafi Abdul Aziz, members, and families from the Islamic community. The center provides religious, social, and educational services to Muslims in Albuquerque and surrounding areas.

In the afternoon, Senator Heinrich will introduce keynote speaker LaDonna Harris, founder and president of Americans for Indian Opportunity, at the 2016 Southern Christian Leadership Conference Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon in Rio Rancho.
