WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will hold a press teleconference call for reporters and editorial writers today, Friday, July 11 at 4 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. ET to discuss his recent tour of the temporary facility for undocumented parents and their children at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) campus in Artesia, New Mexico. Senator Heinrich also met with the Artesia Chamber of Commerce, which has been helping collect donations from the community for the families at the facility.
The Artesia facility is one of several ways that the U.S. Department Homeland Security (DHS) is increasing its capacity to expedite the repatriation of the increasing number of families with children crossing the southwest border.
Senator Heinrich joined DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson on today's tour.
