ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Armed Service Committee, will be in Albuquerque on Monday, May 2, 2016, to announce a significant federal investment award for a New Mexico company, Aquila, that will boost military technology manufacturing in the state. Senator Heinrich led the effort to secure this investment, which will provide additional protection for our uniformed military and help support and maintain local jobs.
Aquila is an employee-owned small business that focuses on advanced communications, network design and implementation, project management, information security, prototype design, and manufacturing. The company employs 45 workers and several summer interns from the University of New Mexico (UNM) and local high schools, and partners with private industry and national laboratories in New Mexico.
Senator Heinrich will be joined by Aquila's President, Executive Vice President, engineers, and staff who will discuss the details of the award and its impact on servicemembers and the local economy.
