WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released the following statement after voting to support an aid package that would strengthen America’s national security by delivering aid to U.S. allies in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific and humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.
"I am pleased the Senate has finally passed bipartisan legislation that will support Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to defend their democracy against Vladimir Putin’s war and deliver aid to Israel and innocent civilians in Gaza. Supporting Ukraine’s fight for freedom and standing with our democratic allies in the Middle East and Indo-Pacific is in America’s national security interests. That’s why Democrats have continued to push for this crucial funding.
“I am especially proud that this bill includes the bipartisan FEND Off Fentanyl Act, a major win in our fight to tackle the fentanyl crisis in New Mexico and across the country by targeting the supply of this deadly drug before it ever hits our borders.
“Now that the Senate has passed this legislation, I hope House Republicans will stop stoking chaos and turn to the serious work of governing.”
