WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement after the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) released its report on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). Senator Heinrich helped secure language in the Intelligence Authorization Act passed by Congress last year that directed the DNI to submit the report to the congressional intelligence and armed services committees on UAPs, including observed airborne objects that have not been identified.
“It’s time to stop sweeping these unexplained sightings under the rug. We need to devote real resources and take a unified approach to gathering data and understanding UAPs – especially given the national security implications. The American people deserve transparency. And the federal government needs to be able to explain what is happening in our skies.”
