WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on the passing of former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher.
“When I began my service in the House of Representatives, Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher quickly became one of my biggest role models. I still think about lessons I learned under her visionary leadership on the Armed Services Committee as the Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces. Her expertise on nuclear deterrence and her foresight on the need to invest in emerging technologies like directed energy were invaluable. What I will always remember most is how tough she was and how willing she was to put party labels aside to get work done on our most serious national security challenges. We have truly lost one of our nation’s greatest patriots. My thoughts are with the entire Tauscher family during this difficult time.”
