WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement on the New York Times report that President Trump ordered the firing of Special Counsel Robert Mueller last June:
“The President seems to think he can get away with anything. But nobody, not even the president, is above the law.
“There will be consequences if it becomes clear that President Trump abused his presidential power, tampered with an active investigation, or obstructed justice.
“This latest revelation that President Trump ordered the firing of Special Counsel Mueller also catches the White House in a lie after repeated denials that they would even consider crossing such a line.”
