WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released the following statement on President Trump’s day one Executive Orders:
“President Trump’s Executive Orders are wrong-headed, incendiary, and divisive. Instead of fighting for working families and lowering costs, he has spent his first day issuing orders that attack birthright citizenship enshrined in our constitution, launch a loyalty campaign to undermine career civil servants, excuse the insurrectionists who attempted to overthrow our presidential election four years ago, instigate rather than reduce disorder at the border, and force a plan to line the pockets of fossil fuel CEOs at the expense of critical public lands and environmental protections.
“In the long four years ahead, I will do my part to fight for working families, our democracy, and the values that are core to both, while holding President Trump accountable for the hurt he inflicts.”
