WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s plans to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the American Embassy there:
“Moving the United States embassy in Israel to the holy city of Jerusalem upends a 50-year policy of both Democratic and Republican Presidents and will endanger Israel's security and harm American interests. The decision is misguided and unnecessarily provocative. Once again, this President appears oblivious to the consequences of his actions.”
