WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement after the United States, five other world powers, and Iran announced a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCOA) regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear program:
"Our mission is clear: we must ensure that Iran is never allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. Today's announcement of a framework designed to roll back Iran's nuclear program, break their path to a bomb, and create a transparent and verifiable inspections regime is an important milestone, but the details will be critical to our ultimate success. I will be reviewing those details, and the final agreement, carefully to ensure that the United States and the world have the tools we need to prevent a nuclear armed Iran."
