WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released the following statement to mark the celebration of Independence Day on the Fourth of July:
“Independence Day gives us a chance to come together with family and friends to celebrate our country while also recommitting to the work of protecting our hard-won freedoms, reinstating the freedoms we have lost, and delivering on the freedoms not fully realized.
“As we celebrate today, we should honor the bravery and service of the service members, veterans, and military families who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms and democratic principles that make us all proud to be Americans.”
