ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Office of U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will host a Service Academy Information Night on Tuesday, August 23, in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Senator Heinrich's staff will be on hand to answer questions and give prospective applicants and their families the opportunity to speak with representatives from each military service academy and in-state ROTC programs and learn what is required to submit an application to Senator Heinrich's office.
Representatives from the U.S Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, UNM ROTC, New Mexico State University ROTC, and New Mexico Military Institute will be available to speak with families.
Each academy prides itself on producing our nation's next generation of military leaders. Four of the five service academies--U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy--require a Congressional, Vice-Presidential, or service-connected nomination. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination.
Parents or prospective applicants who are unable to attend a service academy information session are encouraged to visit Senator Heinrich's Academy Nominations page for application deadlines and more information about the nomination process.
