Heinrich Staff To Host Housing Fair For Teachers And School Employees In Carlsbad

ROSWELL, N.M. - In an effort to address recent reports of high teacher turn over due to a housing shortage in Carlsbad, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich's (D-N.M.) staff will host a housing fair for teachers and school employees on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m.

With the help of the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program, the event will allow teachers and staff to meet with experts in the mortgage application process, mortgage finance assistance programs, purchase preparation, and credit. Local realtors will also be on hand to assist prospective homebuyers.

"This housing fair will provide quality resources for teachers and school employees who need assistance with finding housing in the area," said Sen. Heinrich.  "We must do everything we can to attract and retain highly qualified teachers in New Mexico so our kids have the support they need to succeed."
