Heinrich Staff To Hold Mobile Office Hours In Arroyo Hondo

SANTA FE, N.M. - In an ongoing effort to provide top-notch constituent service, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich's (D-N.M.) staff will hold Mobile Office Hours in Arroyo Hondo on Saturday, September 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hero's Day, an event to honor our first responders and veterans, at the John Dunn Bridge Fishing Area in Arroyo Hondo. Staff will be on hand to assist residents who have questions regarding veterans benefits, Social Security benefits, Medicare, immigration, student loans, and other federal programs. All are encouraged to attend.

Hero’s Day is hosted by the New Mexico Wildlife Federation and will feature free fly-casting lessons, fly-tying, elk and turkey calling, outdoor skills contests, prizes, and a cookout to honor our veterans, active military, police and firefighters and their families.

Directions to John Dunn Bridge from Taos

  1. Drive north on 522 heading north out of the town of Taos. Stay straight on 522 through the intersection of roads 150, 64 and 522. This junction is a few minutes north of Taos. 
  2. Stay straight on 522 heading north for just over 6 miles. You will see a brown BLM sign on your right on 522 that says John Dunn Bridge 1 mile. This sign will try to make you turn left at B007 (Los Rios Road).  Pass this turn and continue straight on 522 toward the town of Arroyo Hondo. FYI Los Rio Road/B007 is not the most direct route to John Dunn Bridge. 
  3. Just past mile marker 6 on 522, you will see the Market on your left in Arroyo Hondo. 
  4. Take the first left past the market onto to Arroyo Hondo Road (Jct B005). This left is just after the market and directly after you cross the Bridge over the Arroyo Hondo River. 
  5. Go straight on Arroyo Hondo River Road for 1.5 miles total. You will be driving through a residential area paralleling the Arroyo Hondo river.  Arroyo Hondo River road will turn from pavement to dirt and you will cross over a small bridge, go up the hill and stay to the right.
  6. At the top of the hill is a stop sign, turn Right at this stop sign on to John Dunn Bridge Road heading downhill toward the Rio Grande.  
  7. Stay straight. Where John Dunn Bridge Road forks stay to the right. You will see John Dunn Bridge, cross this bridge over the Rio Grande and take a right directly after the bridge heading down the road 100 yards where you will see the NMWF setup.
