WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) has serious concerns about President Trump’s revised executive order banning refugees and individuals from Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States.
“President Trump’s trial and error approach to national security policy is deeply concerning,” said Sen. Heinrich. “Our refugee and immigration policy should be designed to exclude those who pose a security threat, not those who look or pray differently than the President.”
Senator Heinrich recently met with refugees in Albuquerque and heard firsthand the impact the travel ban has had on the local community—especially at our universities. He encourages anyone in New Mexico who is impacted by this executive order to reach out to his offices throughout the state.
