WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released aResource Guide on Federal Funding Opportunities to Address the Opioid Crisis to offer helpful information and guidance to local governments, tribes, and service providers. In addition to providing a clearinghouse of resources, Senator Heinrich also encouraged eligible grant seekers in New Mexico to contact his office for assistance in identifying and competing for available funding opportunities.
"The opioid epidemic is one of the greatest public health crises our nation has ever faced. It has taken a heartbreaking toll on families all across New Mexico," said Sen. Heinrich. "Over the years, I have made a priority to sit down with medical professionals, law enforcement, local leaders, recovering people, and family members to learn from their experiences. One thing I hear consistently is how difficult it can be for local non-profits and government agencies to navigate the complicated process of applying for federal grants. I am pleased to launch this Opioid Resource Guide to offer helpful information and guidance to those working on the front lines to address this epidemic. I will keep doing everything I can to fight for the funding, resources, and policies we need to ensure every New Mexican who needs it can find treatment and lifesaving care so they can get on the road to recovery."
The guide provides a sampling of the federal funding resources available to communities, especially rural ones, to combat the opioid epidemic. Local governments, tribes, and service providers in New Mexico that need assistance or are seeking additional resources and future funding opportunities, can contact Senator Heinrich's office (202) 224-5521.
