ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) received the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership’s 2016 James D. Range Conservation Award—named after TRCP's co-founder and conservation visionary—for his dedication to working with colleagues from both sides of the aisle in Congress to protect what sportsmen value.
The Outdoor Industry Association also presented Senator Heinrich with its 2016 Friend of the Outdoor Industry Award yesterday at a separate event for his work in Congress to ensure funding and access for public lands and waters, to protect special outdoor places, and to help boost the outdoor recreation economy.
“It is a true honor to receive these awards. Being recognized by the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and the Outdoor Industry Association is very meaningful to me and I appreciate the work these organizations and their members do everyday for conservation,” said Senator Heinrich. “Conservation is etched into the history of New Mexico. Hunters and anglers, campers and acequia parciantes, chile farmers and urban dwellers in our state all have a deep connection to the outdoors and benefit from the recreation, wildlife, and water that our public lands provide. And protecting these wild places contributes to our robust and sustainable outdoor recreation economy.”
