WASHINGTON (Sept. 8, 2021) – Today, U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) welcomed President Joe Biden’s nomination of David Herrera Urias for U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.
“We are very pleased that President Biden has accepted our strong recommendation to nominate David Herrera Urias to join the District Court of New Mexico," said Heinrich and Luján. "Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Urias has built an impressive reputation as he has successfully litigated cases before state and federal courts, served as a role model for countless junior attorneys, and provided pro bono representation for the most vulnerable in our communities. A University of New Mexico alum and an active member in New Mexico’s legal community, Mr. Urias will continue a proud legacy of compassionate and committed federal judges in New Mexico. We look forward to working with the Biden administration and our colleagues in the Senate to advance this nomination so we can fill this vacancy in an expeditious manner.”
