Heinrich, Luján Deliver Senate Floor Remarks Honoring Life Of Medal Of Honor Recipient, Gallup Resident Hiroshi “Hershey” Miyamura

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) delivered remarks on the Senate Floor honoring the life of Medal of Honor recipient and Gallup’s own Hiroshi “Hershey” Miyamura who passed away on November 29, 2022.

Second generation Japanese American and Gallup, New Mexico, resident Hiroshi “Hershey” Miyamura first volunteered in the 442nd Infantry Regiment during World War II. He was later recalled to active duty following the start of the Korean War. President Dwight D. Eisenhower presented him the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic war efforts. Miyamura dedicated his life to his country, community in Gallup, and fellow veterans in New Mexico long after his military service ended.
