Heinrich Honors César E. Chávez Legacy, Will Join Community At 23rd Annual Parade In Albuquerque

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force, cosponsored a resolution to honor the legacy of civil rights leader César E. Chávez. Senator Heinrich will join community members at the 23rd annual César E. Chávez Day Parade in Albuquerque on Saturday, March 26.

"César Chávez was a visionary leader and champion of justice, tirelessly fighting for better working conditions and fair wages. He inspired a generation of community organizers around the country. Chávez's ability to bring the plight of America's farmworkers before the world not only resonates in the Hispanic community, but it also resonates across all lines of ethnicity, race, and background. His legacy and spirit live on in New Mexico through the tireless work of those who strive to make their communities better," said Sen. Heinrich. "I look forward to joining New Mexicans in celebrating his legacy at the parade in Albuquerque and will continue working on behalf of families across the state who deserve good jobs that pay fair and livable wages."

The 23rd annual César E. Chávez Day Parade in Albuquerque is taking place on Saturday, March 26, 2016. The march begins at 10:30 a.m. at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, followed by a fiesta on the plaza. Additional information is available here:: http://www.cesarchaveznm.org/.
