WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) is standing up against President Trump and Senate Republicans' latest attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act. He released a video today on his Facebook page calling on New Mexicans to keep speaking out about what they stand to lose under the Graham-Cassidy health care proposal that may come up for a vote before the end of the month.
“TrumpCare 2.0 is actually worse than previous versions of this legislation. It will throw a quarter million New Mexicans off their health insurance, permanently gut Medicaid and end key protections for people with pre-existing conditions like diabetes and heart disease," said Senator Heinrich. “Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are trying to sneak this latest version of TrumpCare through the Senate before September 30th so they can pass a bill with no bipartisan support whatsoever. We need everyone to stand up once again and make their voice heard. These next two weeks are crucial. Keep calling, keep telling your story, keep marching. You have the power to stop this bill from becoming law if you take a stand.”
Since January, Heinrich has been collecting hundreds of health care stories from New Mexicans to bring to the forefront of the health care debate in the Senate. New Mexicans can continue sharing their stories on the “Share Your Story” portal on Heinrich’s website.
