Heinrich Announces Jasmine Dimitriou as Energy and Natural Resources Committee Staff Director, Additional Hires

WASHINGTON — Incoming Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) announced that Jasmine Dimitriou will serve as the Committee’s Staff Director for the Minority beginning in the 119thCongress.

“Taking on the climate trends that are driving unnatural fires, floods, and droughts across our country, protecting our progress in lowering utility bills and delivering clean energy manufacturing jobs for working families, and investing in both the public lands Americans cherish and the energy technologies that will be foundational to America’s continued global leadership: these are my priorities. And I am thrilled to have Jasmine joining my team to help deliver on them as our new Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Staff Director,” said Heinrich. “I take pride in having a team that rolls up their sleeves to get the job done every day, no matter the challenges. With her extensive experience, I know Jasmine is ready to take on the work ahead with the determination it requires.”

“I am honored to join incoming Ranking Member Heinrich’s team at the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Senator Heinrich has dedicated his career to shaping a better future for America’s families by championing the solutions we need to some of the most consequential challenges of our time, and nowhere is that clearer than in his work on energy and public lands,” said Dimitriou.

Dimitriou most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. Dimitriou previously served as Legislative Director for U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, and as his Senior Policy Advisor working on energy, science, and climate issues before that. Formerly an American Association for the Advancement of Science/American Chemical Society Science Policy Fellow, Dimitriou earned her B.A. in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Washington University in St. Louis and her Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Additionally, Heinrich announced that Anaïs Borja will serve as his Energy Policy Director and Maya Hermann will serve as his Natural Resources Policy Director.

Borja, a Senior Policy Advisor for Heinrich, has served as Heinrich’s lead advisor on energy policy for three years, and has nearly 9 years of experience on Capitol Hill.

Hermann, a Senior Policy Advisor for Heinrich, was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has served as Heinrich's lead advisor on natural resources policy since 2009.
