WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, announced $59,610,471 to the Alamogordo School District to continue the construction of new Holloman Elementary and Middle Schools located on Holloman Air Force Base (AFB).
Once completed, up to 600 students will be supported at Holloman Elementary School, and up to 312 students will be supported at Holloman Middle School. Funding for this award is provided through the Department of Defense’s Public Schools on Military Installations Program.
“This federal award is a direct investment in the children of our military families, and I am proud to welcome it to Holloman Air Force Base. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue fighting to secure resources that support our nation’s service members and their families,” said Heinrich.
Senator Heinrich visited Holloman AFB in February 2022 to discuss the need to upgrade education facilities on the base as well as additional mission priorities.
Senator Heinrich recently secured the authorization of $19.4 million for Holloman AFB in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023. That includes the authorization of $15 million for upgrades to the High-Speed Test Track and $4.14 million to meet F-16 Formal Training Unit Airfield Requirements.
