Heinrich And Murkowski Discuss Bipartisan Sportsmen's Provisions Of Energy Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) held a teleconference today with members of the press to discuss provisions from the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act that were included in S. 2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act that enhance opportunities for hunters, anglers, and outdoor recreation enthusiasts, reauthorize key conservation programs, improve access to public lands, and help boost the outdoor recreation economy.

"The Sportsmen's Act has been a long time in the making, and I was very proud to lead this bipartisan effort alongside Chairman Murkowski," said Sen. Heinrich during the call. "This bipartisan legislation will enhance opportunities for outdoor recreation and it will also reauthorize key conservation programs. I look forward to working with Senator Murkowski to find a path forward for this important legislation in the House so that we can see it signed into law by the President this year."

The sportsmen's provisions were added to S. 2012 by a roll call vote of 97-0, and the bipartisan energy bill passed the Senate the next day by a vote of 85-12. A list of the measures in the package is available, here.
