Heinrich To Deliver Opening Remarks For Arts And Culture Workshops

Senator Heinrich is cohosting a series of workshops to support N.M. artists and organizations; Arts and cultural industries create more than $5 billion in annual economic impact, support nearly one in every 10 jobs in N.M.

SANTA FE; ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will deliver opening remarks to kick off a series of events, “Celebrating Culture: Workshops Supporting New Mexico Arts and Culture,” at 1 p.m. MT TODAY, September 30, in Santa Fe; and 10 a.m. MT TOMORROW, Tuesday, October 1, in Albuquerque.

Senator Heinrich is cohosting the workshops with the City of Santa Fe, City of Albuquerque, and Bernalillo County. The events are designed to connect art organizations and artists with federal, local, and private resources that will:

  • Connect federal arts-funding agencies to local arts organizations.
  • Educate local arts organizations and artists on how to successfully compete for federal, local, and private funding, as well as foreign government commissions and public art commissions.
  • Provide tools to local arts organizations and artists to assist them in bringing federal and foreign exhibits and international artists into New Mexico and to travel local exhibits and artists into federal museums and foreign countries.
  • Assist local arts organizations and artists on developing business plans, marketing strategies, and online strategies.
