ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New Mexico's military installations could soon see a big benefit from movie making.
Sen. Martin Heinrich introduced a bill Thursday that would allow individual military installations to get paid for their use during movie production.
Heinrich says New Mexico's bases, like White Sands, are some of the most sought after in film production because of their landscape.
“Transformers” is one of the many movies who utilized the bases.
While film companies already pay the DOD for costs incurred during filming, the money goes to the main treasury account and not to the individual base. Heinrich's bill would change that.
