My Speech Today
Dear Friend,
On the floor of the Senate today, I was proud to tell the story of Ivonne Orozsco-Acosta, Teacher of the Year and one of the estimated 7,000 Dreamers from New Mexico.
Dreamers like Ivonne, young Americans in every way except on paper, deserve a permanent place and an earned path to citizenship in our nation.
Immigrants have long helped write the economic, social, and cultural story of New Mexico and our entire nation. I am committed to telling the true stories of Dreamers and I refuse to allow their lives to be used as political bargaining chips to advance President Trump's horribly offensive and wasteful border wall.
