Dear Friend,
I understand how worrisome this time is for New Mexico families. There's a lot of uncertainty, but I want you to know that my staff and I are working around the clock to ensure our state has the resources it needs to address the COVID-19 pandemic and help New Mexicans stay safe and healthy.
I am immensely proud of our entire state--from our governor and our health professionals on the front lines of this crisis to ordinary citizens following important public health guidance. New Mexicans are demonstrating what it means to rise to this challenge and look out for one another.
We all have a responsibility to do what we can to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Steps that each of us are taking right now will make a real difference and could save lives. Please continue to wash your hands often and avoid close contact with other people. Stay home if you're sick, cover any coughs and sneezes, use a facemask if you are sick, and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
While my offices are operating with minimized on-site staff, I want to assure you that we stand ready to serve you. I encourage New Mexicans to continue contacting my office if you need assistance with a federal agency, including accessing Veterans benefits, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or federal grant funding. My office can also assist New Mexico residents facing issues returning to the U.S. from travel abroad.
To make sure New Mexicans have accurate, science-based information about the virus and support services in our state, I launched a Coronavirus Resource Center on my website. If you have any questions, please be sure to speak with your health care provider, call the New Mexico Department of Health's coronavirus hotline at 1-855-600-3453 if you are experiencing symptoms, or visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website on the coronavirus.
We are all in this together, and we will get through this.
Be well and stay healthy.
Sincerely,
MARTIN HEINRICH
United States Senator
