At the White House

Dear Friend,
This morning, I joined President Biden at the White House as he commemorated the signing of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law. I was proud to be a part of the bipartisan group of senators who came together to find a meaningful path forward on policies that will reduce gun violence and save lives.

The recent Fourth of July mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois—and the mounting rates of deadly gun violence that communities all across our country are experiencing—only reinforce how urgently we must boost public safety, invest in mental health care, and keep more firearms out of the hands of those who would use them against themselves or against their communities.
I am grateful to all of the New Mexicans who have raised their voices to demand action to reduce gun violence and protect our kids. I am confident that this new law will make a real difference in reducing gun violence—a difference that will be measured in lives saved.
Sincerely,
MARTIN HEINRICH
United States Senator
