Heinrich to Highlight Housing and New Emergency Operations Center in Southern New Mexico

LAS CRUCES & DEMING, N.M. – On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) will visit with community leaders in Las Cruces and Deming to discuss housing needs in Doña Ana County and mark an important milestone in modernizing emergency operations in Southern New Mexico.  

At 11:30 a.m. MT, Senator Heinrich will join Las Cruces community leaders and stakeholders to discuss meeting the housing needs of Doña Ana County residents.

At 2:00 p.m. MT, Senator Heinrich will join community leaders to participate in the transfer ceremony of the Deming Readiness Center from the New Mexico National Guard to Luna County for a new emergency operations center. Senator Heinrich secured $1.5 million in FY22 Congressionally Directed Spending to support the Luna County Emergency Operations Center, which will house the County’s central dispatch, emergency management, and equipment for the volunteer fire department.
