Recently my office was contacted by a New Mexico National Guardsman who had not received his complete re-enlistment bonus. He tried to resolve the issue on his own, but received conflicting information with no resolution. Once he shared his story with my office, my staff immediately went to work on his case and contacted the National Guard Bureau to investigate the issue. After reviewing the Guardsman’s claim, the National Guard Bureau determined that an error had, in fact, occurred and that the guardsman was not properly compensated.
To ensure that no other New Mexico National Guardsmen have been denied their earned reenlistment bonus, I've urged the Army National Guard to immediately conduct an audit.
I encourage any New Mexican who is a member of the National Guard to contact my office if they believe they have not received the pay that they have been promised.
