2023 Water Resources development spending requests

Recipient: Water authorities, utilities, and other public entities in Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia county, New Mexico

Request: An increase in authorization of $50,000,000 for the program.       

Project Description and Explanation: This program provides design and construction assistance to non-Federal partners in the counties of Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia in the state of New Mexico. The purpose of this program is to support the development of publicly owned water-related environmental infrastructure and resource protection projects. The program includes projects for wastewater treatment and related facilities, water supply, conservation and related facilities, storm water retention and remediation, environmental restoration, and surface water resources protection and development.

Recipient: Gravity-fed ditch irrigation systems throughout the state of New Mexico

Request: An increase in authorization of $27,000,000 for the program. 

Project Description and Explanation: The purpose of this program is preserve the cultural history of acequias and maintain the acequias for their use in irrigating farmland in New Mexico.
